(What is Primecare)

A healthcare space where consumers can get all primary medical care facilities at -

  • Accessible Location

  • Quality healthcare service at Affordable Rates

  • Convenience

(Overview of the Project)

Primary care is the day-to-day healthcare given by a healthcare provider. Typically this provider acts as the first contact and principal point of continuing care for patients within a healthcare system and coordinates other specialist care that the patient may need.

(Secondary Research)

Importance of Primary Healthcare

Primary Healthcare is the basis of the Health Infrastructure of the country. And a suitable infrastructure can help a country to achieve health-related Sustainable Development goals. Most patient directly goes to the secondary health center to cure simple disease, usually present at a longer distance, due to the absence of Primary Healthcare. PHC is the “front door” of the health system and provides the foundation for strengthening the essential public health functions to confront public health crises such as COVID-19.

(Problem)

Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare, India has 25,650 PHCs, of which 15,700 (61.2%) have only one doctor each, while 1,974 (7.69%) PHCs don’t have any doctor deployed for patients.

  • One PHC, on average, serves 25,000 people or more in some areas. In some distant and tribal areas, only one doctor is available round the clock throughout the year. In 25,000 PHCs, there are about 9,000 vacancies for doctors.

As per a recent study published in ‘The Journal of Health, Medicine and Nursing’ due to high treatment costs on visits to a private medical practitioner, people are now increasingly visiting PHCs -

  • Average patients visit 30 per day, mostly in rural areas, with the majority of patients belonging to the underprivileged sections of society.

  • Low visits due to the casual attitude of PHC staff and inability to diagnose critical health issues.

  • About 46% of treatment requests are for child care and maternal issues, and medicinal supply in these centres often falls short – just about 22% of the total demand.

  • Hence, government PHCs cannot play a proactive role in healthcare delivery, and the non-availability of gynaecologists is also a big issue in rural centres.

  • The convenience of within-reach location and proximity to local practitioners keeps people’s faith in PHCs, as the waiting periods for a diagnosis of ailment are concise.

(Solution)

Creating a scalable app that provides a cloud for medical records, virtual consultancy, virtual chemist, and lab appointments, with a clean and minimal UI experience to keep the consumer focused on the information.

The UI research and Primary research data suggested focusing on these features for the application -

  • Medical history/docs ( upload/download)

  • Can add family members

  • Find the clinic (map of permanent clinics)

  • Locations of clinics

  • Videos /infographics related to primary care, advice, and instructions

  • Request a call
